2016 Del Dotto Winery Cabernet Sauvignon

Very interesting 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon from Del Dotto Winery – old world nose meets new world palate. The earthiness hits you before you can dive into the fruit elements. Is this a wine from Medoc, France? No, but you could easily second guess yourself in a blind tasting. This is a luscious, scrumptious full bodied wine with loads of blackberry, brambly fruit, chocolate, tobacco, sandalwood, and nutmeg notes. There is really nice integration of oak spice here as well. The acidity is medium and the tannins are medium+ with a long, drying finish. I’ve become a bit of a fan of Del Dotto Winery after this one.
