Every once in awhile a wine really grabs my attention, and palate, and this is one of those times. I have become an instant fan of Venge! Love the aromatics of this wine, and the palate is equally impressive and complex. Incredibly dense and powerful aromatics with dark fruits, leather, smoke and milk chocolate that continue on the palate with dark cherry, blackberry and dark currants. The oak is beautifully integrated with the silky tannins and acidity in the wine. For a 2018 vintage, this is really well harmonized and balanced. Wow – probably a top 5 for me in 2021. Kudos to Kirk Venge as he’s produced a stunner that will age incredibly well for years to come, but is enjoyable at a young age. This would pair well with a T-bone steak and aged parmigiano reggiano cheese. Simply beautiful wine!
